YouTube! But Super Advanced!




Ever wondered if you could play an YouTube video in the background just to listen to the songs or play the video in picture-in-picture mode so that you did not have to pause the video just to search for some information on google? Well, now you can and for free. 

Of course, there is a YouTube premium where you can pay for these features. But why pay if you can get it for free? 

I am not gonna say Bromite Browser or the Newpipe app. I know they have the advantage of being open-source. But Newpipe's user interface is nowhere near the YouTube app available on Google Play Store and people always prefer playing YouTube videos via apps rather than browsers.

 The name of the app is YouTube Vanced. Vanced short for advanced. And it is really reaLLY advanced. It got features like background playing, Picture-in-Picture mode, gesture control for sound and brightness control, and other cool stuffs, and also it got the exact same interface as the stock youtube app.


 To download it you just have to download the vanced manager app. Download it from their official website https://vancedapp.com/ or you can click here to directly download it. It will show you options for downloading three apps.

  1. Vanced microG
  2. YouTube Music Vanced
  3. Youtube Vanced

Download these three apps then install them and done. You do not need a rooted device for this. This runs on unrooted devices.

Vanced microG is the forked version of the Google Play services and you need it for logging in to your Google account via the other two apps. YouTube Music Vanced offers the features of the premium YouTube Music apps for free. But let us talk about the YouTube Vanced app.

YouTube Vanced : This is a super advanced YouTube app. There are a lot of features. But the coolest ones are -

  1. Picture-in-picture Mode - Just tap the play button then press the home key and it's done. Now, the app will run in picture-in-picture mode i.e. a small YouTube player will popup and you can use any other app when watching YouTube videos in this small player.

  2. Background Play - When in Picture-in-Picture mode you can just lock the screen and the sound of the video will continue playing in the background or you can also play the small headphone icon in the Picture-in-Picture mode player to play the sound of the video.

  3. Gestures - This is not enabled by default. You have to enable this in the settings of the YouTube Vanced app. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner. Then click "Settings > Vanced settings > Swipe controls". Here enable "Swipe controls for Brightness" and "Swipe controls for Volume" by moving the sliders next to it. Put the video in landscape mode like you do in the Google Play Store version of the YouTube app. Then on the right side of the screen swipe up or down to adjust the volume of the video. Swipe on the left side of the screen to adjust the brightness of the video.

  4. Blocking Ads - Though I do not recommend it, but, in the "Settings > SponsorBlock settings" option you can block the ads. Although it is in beta mode but it works very well. YouTube channel owner earns by showing these ads in their videos. So I do not recommend it.
